I am taking part in the 30 mile Knee Knacker Trail Race in Vancouver about 5 weeks before, which should be a good build-up. I am also hoping to get around the 10-11 hour mark but not putting too much presure on myself. Well done mate and great time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349603965769484395.post-36544538311101532262008-06-03T22:57:00.000-07:002008-06-03T22:57:00.000-07:00Hi Andy-- I tagged you. Congratulations on such a strong finishing time for your first 50 miler :) How special that your family was there for you and that you got to run in such a memorable place. I'm sure you have many more ultra experiences ahead :)Adelynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16256451142660464796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349603965769484395.post-55920739518595540652008-05-28T23:06:00.000-07:002008-05-28T23:06:00.000-07:00Andy, you're an inspiration! I hope we'll get to do another ultra together before too long, but you'll have to slow down a bit for me ;-)

BTW, I need to get you copies of your pics... finally got them off my camera a few days ago. Got a couple decent ones!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08067886448920221034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349603965769484395.post-77875042045179479892008-05-23T20:48:00.000-07:002008-05-23T20:48:00.000-07:00Thanks all for reading my race report, and for you...Thanks all for reading my race report, and for your comments.

Victoria - it was really nice to meet you at Ohlone, and you ran so well, very impressive! Your dog is just mesmerizing, very beautiful and looks so sweet. Our dog does a little running, but we have to be careful as she has dysplasia (sp?) in both hips. Hope to see you again soon at another race!

Kevin - thanks for stopping by, and hope the W2W training plan gets you to your goal.

Jealousy - thanks for spotting the spelling error for Zep - can't believe that one got through the editors! :-)

Brian - thanks for stopping by again. Those ups and downs at the end were pretty wicked, no doubt. I saw a couple people who obviously fell on them and had some good cuts and scrapes. Sounds like you learned a lot, though, and are a better runner for it, even though the DNF is hard to take.

Clara - it is amazing how quickly the body can recover - seems to get better the longer I run and the farther I run.Andy B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17723806788797380837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349603965769484395.post-46784142352258038722008-05-23T17:53:00.000-07:002008-05-23T17:53:00.000-07:00Isn't it crazy how quickly your body can recover f...Isn't it crazy how quickly your body can recover from such a big race? I was feeling the strongest I had ever felt through mile 28, then I hit those extremely steep hills and that made my decision to drop at the 50k. Oh well. And now I'm kicking myself for not pushing through.

Anyway, congrats again and I know you'll have many more long runs ahead of you.Brian Hawkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08010493399026071295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349603965769484395.post-73104109725906729552008-05-21T15:42:00.000-07:002008-05-21T15:42:00.000-07:00Nice! My quads are a bit dead from Ohlone, but reading this got me inspired for whatever's next...

p.s. Thanks for the compliments on my dog(s)-- the black one is actually my brother's, the red merle is mine.
